Jodhpur ‘detainees’ not to back BJP LS candidates

Punjabi Politics
Tribune News Service Amritsar, June 17 Almost 34 years after their arrest from the Golden Temple during Operation Bluestar, the 40 Sikhs have joined hands to counter the Centre’s move to challenge the compensation awarded to them by a local court in 2017. Despite being associated with the Akalis, they decided to oppose the party’s alliance partner, the BJP. Jasbir Singh Ghuman, one of the “detainees”, said they had unanimously decided to conduct a march with Jodhpur victims’ families to oppose all BJP candidates contesting the General Election in Punjab, if the Centre didn’t withdrew its petition from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. “It is up to the SAD to decide whether they want us or BJP that played anti-Sikh role. A random check at the Golden Temple revealed that though there was adequate availability of eco-friendly bags for “karah parshad”, the “pinni parshad” was not being packed in these. Officials said due to some “technical snag”, the requisite stock of eco-friendly bags could not be arranged for “pinni parshad”. HC decision on divorce on grounds of unnatural sex was upheld by courts as back as 135 years

Punjabi Politics
Saurabh Malik Tribune News Service Chandigarh, June 12 Unnatural sex as a ground for divorce was upheld by the courts more than 135 years back and is recognised by the statute framed nearly 150 years ago.   The question whether a husband could commit sodomy with his own wife was the subject matter of a decision in the case of “B versus B” way back in 1882 (Punjab Record 68). The ruling, based on the Indian Divorce Act, 1869, has since been followed by the courts across the country. The issue recently turned into a s...
