Punjab education minister orders stern action against teacher for attempt to rape a girl

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Education Minister Mr. Om Parkash Soni has taken strong exception of the incident of attempt to rape of a six-year-old girl by her teacher in Government Primary School in Sanaur of Patiala district. The Minister strongly instructed the Education Secretary Mr. Krishan Kumar to stern departmental action against the accused. The Education Minister said such acts would not be tolerated at any cost.

Takht marks probe into attack on Sikh girl in J&K

Amritsar, July 10 The case of a Sikh girl studying at the Islamic University of Science and Technology in Kashmir, who was stabbed and forced to convert to Islam, has reached the Akal Takht. Akal Takht Jathedar’s personal secretary Bhupinder Singh said the issue had been referred to the Dharam Parchar Committee which had been asked to probe the matter taking the Sikh Mission, Jammu, in the loop. 9-year-old girl sexually abused in Moga village

Kulwinder Sandhu Tribune News Service Moga, July 9 A nine-year-old migrant girl was sexually assaulted by a youth at Badhni Kalan village in Moga district, police said on Monday. Investigating officer ASI Manpreet Kaur said a case under Sections 376 and 511 of the IPC and under the POCSO Act had been registered against Bablu Singh of Sitamarhi in Bihar at the Badhni Kalan police station. The police said the medical examination of the girl confirmed that she was sexually abused, after which the case was registered. Meanwhile, the girl was undergoing treatment at the hospital. Archit Watts Tribune News Service Muktsar, July 7 At a time when debt-ridden Punjab farmers are committing suicide, 25-year-old Harjinder Kaur from Jagat Singhwala village has proved her mettle, overcoming obstacles with sheer grit and will power. She owns a little over five acres of agricultural land. With an aged mother at home, she started farming nine years ago after she lost her three brothers and father. “ I am the man of the house now. Be it driving a tractor, tilling land, making culverts, irrigating fields, purchasing seeds and fertilisers, spraying pesticides, harvesting and selling crops, I have been doing it all,” she says with pride.
