The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today received an assurance from union home minister Rajnath Singh that the Jodhpur detainess would get their just due, even it urged him to expedite release of all Sikh prisoners who were still languishing in jails after completion of their jail term.
CHANDIGARH:- The Shiromani Akali Dal will launch a statewide drive to put pressure on the Punjab government to reduce its share of the taxes on petrol and diesel so as to reduce their price by at least Rs 10 per liter.

Chandigarh, June 7 Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh said his government would provide compensation to the Punjabi settlers whose shops were gutted during the recent violence in Shillong. The CM, who met the four-member committee headed by Cooperation Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, on their return from the strife-torn areas of Shillong, said the Punjab Government would also assist the settlers in completing an under-construction community-run school. He said his government would also provide legal guidance to the affected families, if required.
