Roadmap to control prices of veggies soon: Harsimrat

Tribune News Service New Delhi, February 13 Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today said the Centre would soon draw a roadmap to control the soaring prices of tomato, onions and potatoes (TOP). Briefing the media on “Operation Greens” summarised in the Budget, she praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for doubling her ministry’s Budget this year. The minister said her department would hold a meeting with stakeholders on March 20 to put on ground the framework for the preservation of tomato, onion and potato by promoting farmer produce organisations, agri-logistics processing facilities and professional management. “We may also look at incentivising the production of TOP. Harsimrat asks Punjab govt to clear two pending cold chain projects

Chandigarh, February 9 Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal has asked Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to instruct officials to issue statutory permissions for two cold chain projects sanctioned for Punjab. She alleged that granting of permissions has been inordinately delayed. Punjab sex ratio up due to changing mindsets: Harsimrat Badal

New Delhi, February 9 Both the low sex ratio and child sex ratio in Punjab have improved over the last decade due to sustained civil society efforts to change the mindset, Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said on Friday. Inaugurating the One Globe Forum on digital economy, Badal said that besides government efforts, it was the work of the civil society including many NGOs like her own which had succeeded in reversing the alarming decline in sex ratio in the state which was beginning to take on apocalyptic implications.
