His family told the police that instead of sending Rajan to America, the accused sent him to Russia, from where he was deported. His father Jarnail Singh, a resident of Raseela Nagar, Basti Danishmandan, said ever since his son had returned, he was under depression and after getting death threats from the agent, he hanged himself on Wednesday night. Abohar, June 20 A court in Sriganganagar on Wednesday sentenced Gaura Singh, alias Amandeep Singh, to life imprisonment for killing Manjit Singh at Chunawadh village on March 16, 2006. A case was registered against Gaura Singh and Gurpreet Kaur. The murder was reportedly committed due to illicit relations. Solan, June 19 Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader from Bathinda Balvinder Singh (38) allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the balcony of a private hotel by a plastic rope at Nagali village, near Barog, on Tuesday. Balvinder had checked into the hotel around 4 pm on Monday and he was staying in room number 104. Madhusudan Sharma, SP, said the police was enquiring into the matter and the family of the deceased had been informed. The police were yet to ascertain the cause behind the suicide. Sangrur, June 16 A farmer and a labourer committed suicide in different villages. Farmer Gulzar Singh (42) from Lehal Kalan hanged himself in his room on Friday night. “His family has alleged that their neighbours had levelled false allegations of harassment against Gulzar. We are investigating,” said Head Constable Raghuvir Singh. Labourer Gian Singh (32) from Bhutal Kalan village hanged himself in a field on Friday night and his family got to know about it on Saturday. “His family said he was under tension due to personal problems. Abohar, June 13 A special court dealing with cases relating to atrocities on members of the SC/ST communities in Hanumangarh on Tuesday sentenced two persons to life imprisonment for killing a government school teacher over some money dispute. Both were also directed to pay a fine of Rs 25,000 each. As per the FIR registered on October 1, 2014, Jai Dev had alleged that his father Rupa Ram Meghwal, a teacher at a government school, was told over phone to meet Angrej Singh of Daulatanwali and Rameshwar of Kohla village at the Fatehgarh minor. Later, his body was found near the canal. Investigations indicated that the deceased was unable to repay the money that he had borrowed from Rameshwar due to which both of them killed him. — OC The Tribune
