Residents to be educated about ways to check vector-borne & water-borne diseases: DC Ludhiana

Deputy Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Agrawal today directed the officials of Health Department, Municipal Corporation, Nagar Councils/Committees to ensure that residents are educated and made aware about vector-borne and water-borne diseases, such as dengue, malaria, chikungunya, etc so that they can be kept under check. The Deputy Commissioner issued these directions while chairing a district level Dengue Monitoring Committee meeting under National Vector Borne Disease Control at Civil Surgeon Office, here today.

Bid to run over Ludhiana cop, clings to bonnet

One labourer died after he came into contact with a high tension wires. The two others got a fatal shock when they attempted to save him. The deceased have been identified as Satranjan Rai, Mukesh, both from Uttar Pardesh, and Rakesh from Bihar. They were presently living in a rented accommodation in the Jodhewal area. After surgery, Pak girl dies at Ludhiana hospital

Tribune News Service Ludhiana, July 3 A five-and-a-half-year-old girl, whose family had brought her to India from Pakistan for treatment, died at a hospital here on Tuesday. The Pakistan girl, Zainab, had come to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital for treatment of a complicated congenital heart problem. “The girl was admitted to the hospital on June 26 and was operated on July 2 but she died this morning. She had a complicated congenital heart problem,” said a spokesperson for the DMCH. She had three holes in her heart and left side of her heart was not working. DSP accused of pushing Ludhiana girl into drugs suspended

Tribune News Service Chandigarh, June 28 Acting on a directive from Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the Punjab Police have suspended the DSP at the centre of a controversy involving charges of pushing a Ludhiana girl into drugs abuse. A probe by a senior woman IPS officer has also been ordered into the allegations, according to a police spokesperson. Taking serious note of the allegations, and in view of the gravity of the charges, the Chief Minister had asked DGP Suresh Arora to ensure a proper inquiry into the matter and stern action against the DSP if found guilty.
