Ferozepur, May 5 Acting on a secret input, the Anti-Narcotics Cell in a joint operation with the BSF on Saturday recovered five packets of heroin weighing 4.7 kg from an area near the Shameke border outpost (BOP) along the Indo-Pakistan border. Gurinder Singh Dhillon, IG (Ferozepur Range), said the value of this consignment in the international market was about Rs 24 crore, adding that a case under the NDPS Act has been registered. He was said to have received a commission of Rs 60,000 per kg for transporting it further. In March this year, a team of the Special Task Force (STF) formed by the Capt Amarinder Singh government to check drug smuggling nabbed Parminder’s brother Gurlal Singh with 40 kg of heroin. Our Correspondent Abohar, April 19 Gurmej Singh of Malout, Pratap Singh of Muktsar and Gurmail Singh of Jalalabad were arrested under the NDPS Act on Thursday. The police nabbed them when they were boarding a Punjab Roadways bus at the interstate bus terminal at Sriganganagar. The police claimed to have seized 8 kg of poppy husk from them. A court remanded the trio in judicial custody. NAKODAR:  The Nakodar sadar police have arrested a drug peddler on charges of selling intoxicant powder.  Investigating officer(IO) Sukhwindarpal Singh that 120 grams intoxicant powder was recovered from the possession of the accused identified as Balkar alias Gogo r a resident of Shahnkar village. IO said that a case under sections22/61/85 of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused.

Abohar: The police on Sunday arrested Subhash Bishnoi of Mahla Rampura village and Sunil Bishnoi of Mehrana village here with 30-kg poppy husk after their car was intercepted. Abohar, March 23 Three Punjab residents are among eight persons who have been arrested in Rajasthan under the NDPS Act. The Hindumalkot police on Friday said Sunil Verma and Vikas Jat of Maujgarh village (Abohar) were nabbed when the police intercepted a car near Panjawa village on the interstate border.
