Abohar: The police on Sunday arrested Subhash Bishnoi of Mahla Rampura village and Sunil Bishnoi of Mehrana village here with 30-kg poppy husk after their car was intercepted. In other raids, Manish Sharma of Bathinda was nabbed with 500-gm opium and Gurpreet Singh Babla of Seed Farm Colony with 5 gm heroin. Sangrur: The Sunam Sadar police have confiscated 105 kg poppy husk from a truck on Saturday night while the accused managed to escape. “During a naka, we have seized 105 kg poppy husk from near Bigarwal village. Abohar, December 2 The city police on Saturday claimed to have seized 7 kg of poppy husk by intercepting a truck on the highway. Driver Harbhajan Singh of Ghal Khurd (Ferozepur) and cleaner Manpreet Singh Lucky of Pakhi Kalan (Faridkot) have been arrested under the NDPS Act. Meanwhile, the BSF and police in Sriganganagar have in a joint action arrested Pawan Jat, Mohinder Kumar and Kailash Bishnoi after seizing 2.5 kg of opium, three mobile phones and Rs 21,500 from the jeep used by them on the Padampur road bypass. — OC The Tribune

Ludhiana truck driver, owner arrested; poppy seized in Poonch

Jammu, November 24 Two people were arrested and 50 kg of poppy was seized from them in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, the police said on Friday. They were arrested from the Behramgalla area on the Mughal Road on Thursday night. Police seized 100 packets of poppy, weighing around 50 kg, from their truck. They were going from Kashmir to Punjab, an officer said. A case was registered against the truck driver Jasdev Singh and its owner Balvinder, both residents of Ludhiana in Punjab, he said. 6-quintal poppy husk seized in Ropar

Tribune News Service Ropar, October 15 The district police busted an interstate gang of drug peddlers seizing six quintals of poppy husk here today. While two of the gang members identified as Sanjiv Kumar, alias Sonu, of Hoshiarpur and Baljit of Haroli in Una district in Himachal Pradesh have been arrested, many more arrests were likely after the questioning of the accused. This was the biggest seizure of poppy husk in the district so far, said Senior Superintendent of Police Raj Bachan Singh Sandhu. He said before this the biggest quantity of poppy husk was recovered in 2004 when the police seized four quintals of it from drug smugglers. Sandhu said the police had got information that the poppy husk was being smuggled in the area from Madhya Pradesh. He said the accused used to conceal ...
