The Punjab government led by Captain Amarinder Singh on Thursday released funds to the tune of Rs. 562.05 crore towards pending payments for various schemes and development projects, including the maintenance of important memorials in the state.

Tribune News Service Chandigarh, May 14 Seven new schemes have been launched for the welfare of ex-servicemen or their dependants in Punjab to enable optimum utilisation of income generated from the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. The schemes, approved at the meeting of the state managing committee of the Punjab Amalgamated Fund last week, will entail an expenditure of Rs 1,05 crore annually. The current income from the fund is approximately Rs 2.80 crore, while the expenditure on various ongoing welfare schemes is Rs 1.50 crore. Muktsar, April 25 A high-level team from the Central government on Wednesday visited some parts of the district to take stock of implementation of various schemes. The team included JS Bindra, Director (CPD), Ministry of Coal, and Nirbhai Singh, Under Secretary, Ministry of Finance.
