Capt Amarinder led government releases Rs.469 crore to clear pending payments under various welfare & development schemes

 Giving a further fillip to its development agenda, the Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab government on Monday released Rs. 469 crore towards pending payments for various schemes and development projects, besides clearing the entire pendency of VAT/GST refunds in the state treasury.The funds released today relate to the Local Government and Education departments, as well as pending Social Security Pensions.

7 new schemes for ex-servicemen

Tribune News Service Chandigarh, May 14 Seven new schemes have been launched for the welfare of ex-servicemen or their dependants in Punjab to enable optimum utilisation of income generated from the Armed Forces Flag Day Fund. The schemes, approved at the meeting of the state managing committee of the Punjab Amalgamated Fund last week, will entail an expenditure of Rs 1,05 crore annually. The current income from the fund is approximately Rs 2.80 crore, while the expenditure on various ongoing welfare schemes is Rs 1.50 crore. Under a scheme approved for providing financial assistance for medical treatment to ex-servicemen who are not in receipt of any pension or members of the Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, 40 cases per year will be given a grant of up to Rs 50,000 each. Central team visits Muktsar district to review schemes

Muktsar, April 25 A high-level team from the Central government on Wednesday visited some parts of the district to take stock of implementation of various schemes. The team included JS Bindra, Director (CPD), Ministry of Coal, and Nirbhai Singh, Under Secretary, Ministry of Finance. Bindra said the Ministry of Panchayati Raj was conducting the Gram Swaraj Abhiyan from April 14 to May 5 across the country and the team had come for the purpose. “The objective is to promote social harmony and reach out to poor households to enrol them under various schemes.
