Jupinderjit Singh Tribune News Service Chandigarh, July 10 The Punjab Police has withdrawn nearly 200 policemen from security duty of number of politicians, including former Akali minister Bikram Singh Majithia, SGPC president, former AAP state president Gurpreet Singh Ghuggi and several Shiv Sena leaders, besides singer Jazzy B, heads of different deras and police officials with immediate effect. Two constables each have been withdrawn from SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal and former president Kirpal Singh Badungar. Security has also been withdrawn from nearly 50 Shiv Sena leaders. ‘Jaish’ letter keeps Pathankot cops on toes; security up

Ravi Dhaliwal Tribune News Service Pathankot, July 4 A letter — purportedly written by Pakistan-based terror organisation Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) to officials of seven railway stations, including that in Pathankot, threatening to blow these up if the Amarnath yatra is not disbanded — has sent the police on an overdrive. The letter stated that the Golden Temple and Durgiana Temple in Amritsar and the Raghunath Temple in Jammu would also be attacked. The January 2 Pathankot air base attack was the handiwork of JeM terrorists. A letter written by the terror organisation was found from the vehicle which was hijacked by four militants a day before the attack. Vijay Mohan Tribune News Service Chandigarh, June 29 With the new expanded visitors’ gallery at the Attari joint check post (JCP) on the India-Pakistan border near Amritsar nearing completion, the Border Security Force (BSF) is revamping its security plan and emergency protocols to cater to the hefty increase in the number of spectators. A senior BSF official said security arrangements had been reviewed. CISF to be deployed in six high security jails in Punjab

Chandigarh, June 25 The Punjab government today decided to deploy the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for checking and frisking at six of the 10 high-security jails in the state by the end of next month as part of its efforts to strengthen prison security. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, who directed the jails department to coordinate with the central authorities to expedite the process of deployment, an official spokesman said. The jails department is getting two companies of CISF from the Centre and plans to deploy one platoon each in six of the state's high-security prisons.  The CISF personnel will be posted in Deori (corridor between two main gates of the jail), where currently frisking is done by either jail Warders...
