The Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes & Minority Welfare Minister, Punjab, Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot has said that during the current year 2018-2019 the government has targeted to provide job related loans to 6400 youth belonging to SC category under various welfare schemes and a provision of Rs. 24 crore has been made for the purpose. He further said that the aim of these schemes is to provide financial assistance to the SC youth for augmenting their income so as to make them self dependent.

The six-week statewide campaign, which was scheduled to end by June 15, has been extended by 10 days, officials confirmed. Kicked off with much fanfare by the government across the state on May 1, the MR vaccination drive has been able to cover 82 per cent of the children. As per the data gathered from the Health Department, 60 lakh children against the target of 73 lakh were vaccinated till June 15. On the occasion of ‘World Blood Donors Day’, the Health & Family Welfare Minister Punjab Mr. Brahm Mohindra disclosed that the Punjab has successfully surpassed the set target of blood donation and achieved 124 per cent of the set target. He said that under the Punjab Blood Transfusion Council, a target has set to collect 1,80,000 units of blood in the state. In order to achieve the target, health department has commenced the campaign and successfully collected the 2 lakh 24 thousand 158 units under voluntary blood donation campaign with the close coordination of the NGOs, voluntary blood donors and other social organizations.
