CM orders drive to fill vacancies for disabled

Tribune News Service Chandigarh, October 27 To mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has ordered a special recruitment drive to be conducted across the state to clear the backlog of vacancies for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the public sector. A special event would also be conducted on December 3 as part of state government’s programmes to observe the day, an official spokesperson said today. Appointment letters to newly recruited persons with disabilities would be handed over in addition to distribution of wheelchairs and other aids on the occasion, he said. Punjab revives defunct ‘Employment Exchanges’ to fill vacancies in govt and private sectors

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Government has out of the blue today decided to revive the defunct 'Department of Employment' and ordered to all government departments and private sector to notify their vacancies with 'Employment Exchanges' which are non-functional for the last two decades. The only change was renaming of Department that of Employment Generation and Traning by previous government.

Another entrance test to fill 9,206 BEd seats

Balwant Garg Tribune News Service Faridkot, October 23 To fill 9,206 vacant Bachelor of Education (BEd) seats in 215 Colleges of Education in the state, the Department of Higher Education today asked Panjab University, Chandigarh, to conduct another common entrance test (CET) to make admissions. Earlier, the university had conducted CET in July this year. The department today asked the university to complete the admission process to fill the vacant seats before October 31, the deadline set by the High Court. After some private colleges filed a writ petition in the High Court, demanding the court to make orders to the state government to fill the vacant BEd seats, on October 9, the court had directed the Higher Education Department to hold another CET.
